PopBlocks3D privacy

Last updated 30 September 2026

PopBlocks3D has no account and asks you for nothing. Your progress and settings are saved on your own device, and the game has no server of its own to send them to.

It does show advertising, supplied by Google AdMob, and that involves your device being identified for the purpose of serving ads. That is the substance of this page.

Who this is

PopBlocks3D is made and published by paintbucket, a one-person game studio run by Richard Folea. Questions about any of this go to paintbukkitgames@gmail.com, which is read by the person who wrote the game. The studio’s general policy, covering the website and the other games, is at paintbucket.dev/privacy.

What stays on your device

The game saves your progress locally: which levels you have finished, your scores, your settings and where you were up to. This is written to your own device’s storage. It is not uploaded, it is not backed up by us, and we cannot read it.

Uninstalling the game or clearing its data deletes it, permanently and with no copy anywhere else to restore from.

Advertising

PopBlocks3D shows two kinds of advert, both supplied by Google AdMob: a banner along the bottom of the board, and an optional rewarded video you can choose to watch in exchange for an extra life. The rewarded one only ever plays because you asked it to.

To serve and measure those adverts, Google collects information from your device. That can include:

  • your device’s advertising identifier, and other device identifiers
  • your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it
  • device and operating system details
  • which adverts you were shown, and whether you interacted with them

These identifiers are both collected and shared with Google for two purposes: serving advertising, and preventing fraud and abuse of the ad system. Google may use them to show you advertising based on your interests. This processing is Google’s, under its own policies. We receive only aggregate reporting — impressions, clicks, revenue — and can never look up an individual player.

The game also records which actions you take in it, in order to make the game work — deciding when to offer a rewarded advert, for instance. This is about gameplay, not about you.

Turning personalised ads off

You are asked about this, and you can decline. You can also change your mind later, for every app at once:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads, where you can delete or opt out of the advertising ID.
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and the app must ask before tracking you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Declining does not remove the adverts. It stops them being personalised.

Leaderboards

PopBlocks3D can connect to Google Play Games so your scores appear on leaderboards. This is optional and it is not how you play the game. If you never sign in, nothing is submitted anywhere and the game works exactly as it otherwise would.

If you do sign in, you are signing in with a Google Play Games account that already exists — the game does not create an account and never sees your Google password. Your Play Games player identity and the scores you submit are handled by Google under its privacy policy. You can disconnect the game at any time from your Play Games settings.

What the game does not do

  • It has no account of its own, and never asks for an email address.
  • It sells nothing: there are no in-app purchases.
  • It does not ask for your contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
  • It does not request precise location.
  • We do not sell personal information, and never have.

Data that does leave the device is sent over an encrypted connection.

Children

PopBlocks3D is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, write to paintbukkitgames@gmail.com and it will be deleted.

Your rights, and deleting your data

Depending on where you live — in particular under the GDPR in the UK and EU, or the CCPA in California — you have rights to access, correct, delete and export personal data held about you, and to object to its processing.

In practice, almost nothing reaches us: your saved game is on your device and can be deleted by you at any time by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it. The advertising identifiers are held by Google rather than passed to us, and your leaderboard identity belongs to your Play Games account, so requests about either have to go to Google, whose account controls are where that data can actually be reached.

For anything we do hold, or if you are not sure who holds what, write to paintbukkitgames@gmail.com and it will be dealt with without charge.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change materially affects what is collected, it will be called out on the page rather than folded quietly into the text.
